Warm Hearts social sauna
in Amsterdam
WHERE 6 STRANGERS MEET TO TALK ABOUT
THE GOOD DEEDS THEY’VE DONE.
You might associate a sauna with silent moments. But in Finland (and now in Amsterdam!), the sauna is the place where people let their guard down and have real conversations. In the sauna, social status does not exist.
At Warm Hearts you pay with good deed, not money. Every visitor has done an act of kindness before coming to the sauna. The first ice-breaker question is: “What was your good deed?” A conversation about baking a cake for a neighbour, leaving your bottle return receipt for the next customer, cleaning up the park with your family or spreading kind messages on the tram starts a much more interesting conversation than asking what you do for work.
Our sauna has become a melting-pot to people of all ages, religions, genders, cultures and walks of life. People who were strangers 2 hours ago often leave the sauna exchanging phone numbers, sharing a hug, or wanting to contribute as a volunteer.

SHARE A SAUNA WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND DO GOOD
Operating an entirely free sauna is quite an impossible task in today’s world. So we came up with a way to keep our sauna warm!
Make a donation and book a private sauna in Amsterdam to gather with your friends and loved ones. We’ve hosted beautiful birthdays, anniversaries, company outings and family gatherings. You don’t just bond with your friends in the nature of the Sloterplas but you also get to contribute to a social movement.

Story of Warm Hearts

It started with an ice-swimming group, a wild idea, and €150.
One cold morning at the Sloterplas lake in Amsterdam, someone said: “We need a sauna here.” What began as a neighbour’s dream grew into the world’s first floating sauna fuelled by kindness — where you don’t pay with money, but with a good deed for someone or the planet.
Today, Warm Hearts brings together locals, expats, and newcomers from over 70 nationalities. We create space to volunteer, connect, build networks, and showcase talents. We believe (and have seen!) that everyone can participate.
Listen to the exciting and touching story of how four neighbours became the founders of Warm Hearts Sauna Foundation — pioneering the first floating sauna in Amsterdam without funding, and what it truly took to make it happen.
